CBI, rly teams identify illegal vendors at stns

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths along with Western Railway and Central Railway vigilance teams conducted surprise checks at stations on the suburban network to identify unauthorized vending on platforms and footover bridges (FOBs).

A CBI source said the teams visited stations like Borivli, Kurla, Dadar and Andheri. CBI officials said, “A report is being compiled so that action can be taken against those involved in the racket. The vendors enjoy the patronage of RPF personnel and railway employees.”

Borivali resident Rohan E L said, “Hawkers occupy the FOB at Dadar during peak hours right under the nose of cops.”

Ankush Malusre, member, Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee, said, “The hawkers operate at Mira Road and Bhayander. I will make a presentation to the authorities at the next meeting.”
