Now, Braille stickers for rail coaches

Railway coaches will now have Braille embedded signage to facilitate visually-challenged passengers.

The first prototype coach — complete with braille stickers — is expected to be rolled out of here in October for feedback.

The non-AC conventional coach manufactured at the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai will have Braille stickers on berth, toilet, wash basin and doors as well. As per the plan, eventually more coaches will have Braille stickers. The stickers will be placed following consultation with members of blind association in the Capital. Coaches are now provided with signage, instructions, seat numbers with no Braille characters.
