ID card must for buying Tatkal ticket at counters in Pune station

The Pune railway division has made it mandatory for travelers to produce proof of identity at the time of booking a Tatkal ticket at railway counters. The new clause, the division officials say, will keep a check on touts who buy tickets in fake/fictitious names. The revised rule will come in force at all railway reservation counters in the city from May 6.

A passenger or his representative buying a Tatkal ticket at a counter will have to produce one of the 10 documents listed as proof of identity (see box) by the railway administration.

A railway division official said that they have been getting complaints of touts and middlemen operating at booking counters. “The administration catches at least 3 to4 peopleevery month for buying/selling tickets illegally. Our drive will continue,” said the official.
