Bangalore: The Digital Train Reservation Chart display, the first-of-its- kind in Indian Railways was inaugurated as a passenger amenity at the main concourse hall at the City Railway Station here Friday.
The Digital Train Reservation Chart Display System would replace the paper-based chart information on confirmation of tickets. The display was commissioned by South Western Railway General Manager Kuldeep Chaturvedi.
The new facility was incorporated with the existing PPP contract for public announcements and integrated digital display systems for passenger information, Mr Chaturvedi said.
In the first phase of the PPP project as many as 15 X 32 inch LCDs have been installed proivding updated confirmation status of RAC/Waitlisted tickets.

New Electronic Reservation chart display system at Trivandrum

Trivandrum Division has developed a new type of Reservation Chart display system.for the convenience of the passengers. The display is envisaged as a replacement of the conventional printed reservation charts displayed in stations. Conventional charts are computer printouts displayed in a glass box.
The new system is an online display connected to the reservation network which can display the charts on LCD monitors.
The display consist of groups of 6 LCD screens
Display contains 3 modules, ie total 18 LCD screens
It can display charts (status of waitlisted tickets) of next 3 trains departing from the station.
The system can display total chart of 18 coaches, or only wait listed ticket status.

Trivandrum division has developed this online display, which is a new innovation in Indian Railways at a cost of Rs 16 lakhs..This was inaugurated on 21st June,2007 by then General Manager Shri Thomas Varghese.
